Those Periville miscreants got one over on me again last night. We were betting on the turkey races down at the local tavern, and I placed a bet on the local hen. Unfortunately, ma caught that one. I warned her not to be so rough with the bird, but she always has been overzealous. The poor bird couldn’t even run a straight line, and it was squawking and flapping all over the main hall. After paying those swine what I owed them, I borrowed Gertrude’s old blunderbuss to put the damn thing out of its misery.
I’ll not make this mistake again. The next time Periville comes to town, I’ll catch the turkey myself. And slip it a little something from the alchemist for good measure… That ought to lay this little rivalry to rest, once and for all.
