From the black marshes beyond God’s map came the Hexen Sisters—Isolde, Mirabel, and Elfrun—born not of womb but of smoke, moonlight, and dying men’s sighs. No priest dares call them holy, yet their beauty undoes prayer.

Isolde smiles like a sickle and steals hearts with a kiss upon the palm. Mirabel sings until bones slip from their joints, her victims dancing gladly as marrow drains. Elfrun, fairest and cruelest, embraces like an angel fallen—her thighs a grave yielding no escape.

Men seek them, though none return whole. Some wander home smiling, lips blue and eyes glass. Others stumble the roads muttering in tongues of ash, their strength spent upon the Sisters’ altar of flesh.

Once, a hunter clad in silver and oak swore to end them. Thrice he struck, thrice they rose, laughing, naked in flame and shadow. At dawn his heart was nailed to his door, his body gone, a crimson trail leading back to the marsh.

So the old wives warn: if thou hearest laughter sweet as wine at the wood’s edge, flee. The Hexen do not hunger for bread, nor blood alone—but for the surrender of will itself. To love them once is forever.
