Food doesn’t bring the joy it once did. All flavors are just one flavor now, an endless banquet of dust, with the texture of sawdust, desiccated and dry.
It is like there is a desert where overripe fields used to be. The heady aromas that were linked to each season, the rich wines, and richer sauces. All just memories now, as I consume pale imitations.
Why do I keep trying? This is futile. I should just leave, but I continue to hope that someday, the flavor will return.
