Cronewell Cathedral, though crumbling, is a perfect example of the architectural style of Nighthaven’s second age. Structures in this style incorporate traits of both Romanesque and Gothic Architecture, combining heavy masonry with pointed arches. It is a more humble structure than others in its class, lacking the elaborate tracery, rose windows, and crockets that Tularest Abbey so resplendently displays, and lacking the flying buttresses of Castle Dracula and House Carmilla nearby.
Cronewell is notable for its twin windows on the south end of the nave, where the lower sills mirror the lancets typically only seen along upper lintels. The two statues in niches at the outer vestibule are examples of the “Veiled Figures” motif that is favored throughout Nighthaven for cloth exquisitely carved from stone. Strangely, the cathedral’s narthex is a portcullised gatehouse, as if, rather than welcome the pious in, the builders sought to keep something out.
